Default Irregardless

Regardless Of What You Think, 'Irregardless' Is A Word.

This comes up as a pet peeve on AGF from time to time.

I’m so over this. It’s not the end of life as we once knew it. (That life ended when people began saying “hopefully” rather than “I hope” or thinking that “between you and I” was proper.)

Irregardless if that is a word,

I will NOT NEVER use that word in a sentence.

Irregardless may be a word but it is non standard, the IR is not needed

People just make stuff up and if enough people begin believing it, it becomes "fact". This seems especially true with the internet and forums.

People make up words and/or find new uses for existing words and, if enough people start repeating it, then it becomes a "legitimate" word. We each choose whether or not to follow the crowd.

I still say "he" or "she" instead of "them", for example because "them" refers to more than one person. I hear and read of few people who don't follow the crowd on that one. According to threads that pop up here from time to time, we each seem to have our "pet peeves" about these kinds of things.

Irregardless, Merriam-Webster supposably states it's true.

People believe Schrodinger's cat is either Alive or Dead.

After the chamber is opened, everyone will believe the truth, that the cat is either Dead or the cat is Alive.

There is more than one Truth in this world,

I don't consider that fact.
I consider it agreement.

Sadly is these days of reduced critical thinking, many people do not recognize the difference or even care.

It's true, enough people believe it (practice it) and it becomes vernacular.

Like Thunder SHTORMS instead of Thunder STORMS

This really is one of my biggest pet peeves, changing ST pronunciation into SHT pronunciation.

I put "fact" in quotes for a reason. Sorry you missed that reason, and therefore, my entire point. In quotes, it isn't really fact, but instead assumed as "fact" (in other words, if people hear something often enough, it is assumed to be fact). I hope that helps.
