Mike Dowling’s version of “I Hope Gabriel Likes My Music” starts similarly to the Am-E7 vamp, but he’s capoed on the second fret so it’s Bm-F#7:

Thanks for the videos.

I really like hearing and playing this tune. I learned it from Phil Heywood (Twin Cities, MN), and his version was based off of Reverend Gary Davis's playing. I don't sing, but this Piedmont style has enough melody and other stuff to keep instrumentals interesting.

I enjoyed both. It's been a long time since I have played this song, which was way back in the mid-60s. It was nice to be reminded of this old song!
