Smallest PA Available!
I needed the smallest practice PA I could throw in a school backpack
It is by FBT model J5A 5 inch woofer 80 watts 1 inch tweeter 40 watts 80-20 KHz 117 peak SPL ? not so sure,will distort at higher volumes like anything else with a 5 inch woofer XLR link out for second speaker 10 1/2 inches high x 7 inches wide 7.5 Lbs Cons: Price $409 Only one input Not battery powered Does not mount on standard speaker poles-funky European mount No effects No Bluetooth or any input for phone/devices This thing is so small it looks like a toy but it isn't! It sounds really good for its size. Before distortion it stays clean. I never tested to Max so I can't give a specific SPL number. Made in Italy. Can be found in museums for exhibits requiring sound. The price is a killer though. I could have gotten a QSC CP8 for $400 but nothing this small and light. At 7.5 lbs I can carry two that would equal the weight of my one Bose S1. At 15 lbs Bose S1 is the second lighest PA I have found.I don't have two so I don't know if it would sound better. I throw it in a backpack with my Beaudens charger. If I need more inputs or Effects I throw in my tiny Yamaha MG06X Mixer with a small power strip. With one guitar cable everything fits in the backpack. This is a setup I enjoy taking to the park. I had never heard of the Pignose before. Wow only 6 lbs. the new light weight champion! But only 5 watts I don't know if it can compare in volume. The price $112 is very reasonable. The biggest difference is, the FBT has an XLR combo jack so a microphone can be used. A one channel mini PA.

I've messed around with the original Pignose amps; they were for electric guitars, and they were pretty much just toys with no applicable value for "serious" playing...
Don't know if they are making something more substantial nowadays, but they would have to "raise the bar" quite a bit to come close to anything that's actually usable for clean sound. My AER Compact 60 weighs in at 12.8 #s; has a carry case/cover that I can stuff the pockets full of mic, two cords and an ac extension cord... but at that point, the weight goes up considerably! The AER will get louder than I've needed it for the applications where i"d use it, rather than my Bose L1 Model II... says it's only 60 watts, but punches WAY above it's weight class!

I’ve never used the FBT J5A, but I follow a DJ in Milwaukee who created a nice micro DJ system with those and a small subwoofer. He liked them. Just sucks they are so pricey!

Oh, I would never suggest pignose is on par with AER or any serious system! They are essentially a toy, but a darn fun one for me, at least!
First guitar I ever got to play was when my Mom’s friend came to visit, toting a vintage Gibson hollow body (model?) and a pignose amp. I guess they just earned a place in my heart from that. But no, they are not on par with the other amps mentioned. But theyre cheap! And with a mini-mixer, could maybe fit his needs?

Mackie FreePlay Live and Hanley Benton Steetbox-60 are both 4kg / 8.8 pounds but have 2 or 3 channels, bluetooth, eq, effects, battery powered with li-ion battery..

EV ZxA1. 19lbs with 800 watts of amplifier output yielding 123 db max SPL. A real PA speaker which can be used for FOH or as a floor monitor.
