A quality classical or flamenco guitar is far louder than a steel-string flat top.

That has been my experience, too. But I'd hesitate to make such a sweeping generalization because of the likelihood of exceptions here and there.

MTD;

I was stunned by the notion of a top as thin as 1mm. Do you (or anyone) have reference to such a guitar? I know that many nylon strung instruments thin down as they get to the edge, but I've never heard of a top as thin as 1 mm.
