mmm! or is it "MMM"??

nice both Mike and K.... for those of you who don't know, K had some significantly innovative design ideas for this guitar - and combined with Mike's imagination and skills it really is turning out brilliantly!

best,
Phil

Just stinkin awesome Kevin. I just love the inlay on the fretboard with the elegant curve from bass to treble side at the sound hole. Really one of a kind.

Thanks, Phil--Mike has really taken the initial ideas that I had, elaborated and refined them, and injected them with his Baranik Mojo! He really is an amazing artist and craftsman.

Thanks, Tom--sometimes a plan works out just right! Mike and I went through a few back and forth exchanges to come up with something we both felt like would work well. All I had to do was pitch ideas--Mike is the man who has had to make it all happen! Yeah, it is one of a kind--Mike says there isn't enough money in the world that would make him work with Malachite again! So I guess Tres M is a one-off!

On that note, the magic continues--Tres M with the first coat of sealer applied. Really loving the black neck we decided to go with...

Thanks for checking it out--the not-so-patient finish-drying slow-down is about to begin...

Default No waiting!

So due to the UV curing process that Mike employs, this guitar is moving quickly to the finish line! It should have strings on this weekend, and I'm hoping to drive down the following weekend to pick up Tres M. To say I'm a bit excited is quite the understatement!

I can't wait to hear it sing! Final buffing today, so in the meantime, here's a few more pics...

If you look closely at the neck, you can see that when Mike stained it he left the grain and the pores visible so that you can see the mahogany color deep down within--a very cool effect.

Thanks for following along!

Wow all the colors look great, deeper and richer, with the gloss of the finish. I was hoping you would post a pic of the face of the headstock!

Hey thanks, Tom! But let's call it a Tonal Monster Music Meridian that's also a work of art!

Hey rockabilly, thanks much and thanks for following along! There is a pic of the headstock up in post #125, but not in its final glory yet. I think Mike is holding out for the full frontal reveal in the next day or so. I'm so looking forward to seeing and playing this completed guitar in person!

Default The finish line is in sight...

Slow day on the Custom forum today, so why not post a few pics?

Mike says this is the silkiest top he's ever seen and that the silking is so intense that's it's hard to see the grain! Third time's a charm...

Frets and strings by the end of today--still on track to pick Tres M up at Mike's shop on Sunday down in Templeton!

And the signature label is ready...

Thanks for watching--more to come soon!
