Default McKnight Guitars and FB

Just out of courtesy and heads up to the AGF folks … we’ve had a Facebook business account for several years although I will admit that I never logged on and have no clue how. Keep in mind that I’m a professional sawdust maker not a web guy. Mary always took care of that side of the business. A couple weeks ago our McKnight Guitars Facebook account was hacked. The genius then decided to delete our account in its entirety. It’s unrecoverable and gone forever. So we have decided not to waste time building another FB account and let it die. Our energy is better spent building guitars and not FB accounts. People can be really mean sometimes but perhaps it was just meant to be?

Since this a guitar forum I better post something guitar related…

Smile Bummer!

What a shame! Sorry to hear this. I gave up on FB a couple years ago. Too many things I could not unsee... sigh.

That instrument is beautiful! Keep making sawdust, and your fantastic guitars!!!

Sending good vibes

Paul

Tim—bad news, but a wonderful guitar. Thanks for posting that.

I agree, it was probably meant to be.
Sorry though for your frustration.

Tim

Sorry to hear your experience, it shouldn’t happen to anyone.

I’ve never had a FB account and never will. I work as a data analytics/data science person and want nothing to do with FB. They have no respect for their customers and are only interested in momitizing your personal business. While I am sure many are truly good people, I think as a company they are morally corrupt.

Sorry for the rant

Jack

It was a fun place for me to see activities of friends and our way to become more personal through messages with the McKnight guitar customers, but having the comfort here where many will watch over us and enjoy our time in the wood shop with us is a joy I will become more attached to. Now I must learn the AGF side of sharing pictures. I've always been lucky to have customers and a husband who did that as their sharing option.

Thanks to all for stickin' by us.

Social media accounts are part of branding and marketing, however if not kept up, they can also be a bit of anchor and hold you back. Once you start, you have to keep updating. Your clientele may not look there, though. As long as you have some web presence and keep you website relatively up to date, I’m sure that will work well enough.

I work IT, and yes, some people are just mean. Strong passwords that you change often are a good defense. Good luck!!

Just so. It can become a millstone very quickly, and you have no time for actually doing real work. I'm retired now but I ran a successful business for several decades on the theory that if we just focussed on doing good work, our customers would do all the advertising we needed. Obviously that's not a sure-fire recipe for every type of business, and like any policy it should not be taken to extremes, but it certainly worked for us.

My best wishes from the other side of the world. Keep making great sawdust!

That’s an absolutely beautiful guitar Tim…and I’ll miss seeing your posts on Facebook Mary. I could always count on your positive and uplifting posts in a sea of misleading, boastful, negative, political, and divisive ones. If it weren’t for my business page, I wouldn’t mess with Facebook at all anymore. Maybe someone will hack mine too, and give me a reason to drop out like you.

We agree that our customers are our best ads. The repeat customers became friends. The facebook wasn't selling guitars. It was my goof off page.

Thank you, Joel. I will miss playing around in that area and sharing pictures of people playing McKnight canjos while wearing McKnight sunglasses. Tom B'sox told me he will assist teaching me how to share here in AGF. I am honored that he offered to take me under his wing. Once he starts babysitting me he might regret his offer. I'm the last person who should be working with technology. I'm better at pretending I'm not clueless. Tom, if you see this and you roll your eyes I will our send McKnight sunglasses to you so I can pretend you are enjoying educating me. D: (Again, thank you and I will be in touch with you.

Oh - from your email the other day I thought it was your website that went bye-bye - not your FB page.

That's good news in a way? Well, maybe not, I guess.

Tim, I sent you a birthday note way back and I'm not sure if you got it.

We've got to catch up.

Life has been, let's say, "interesting"

Sorry to hear that. When I gave up on FB, I was surprised to find how much easier life became and how much more time I had to waste in another way. May your post-FB life be the same way.

Yesssss. Definitely no major regrets. It's kind of nice. I would get caught up in it for no reason, but now I am back on track and highly enjoying be with our AGF family. I didn't discuss guitars there all that much as we would have many locals wanting to invade the workshop build hours and that really slowed us down.
