I've worked with piezo disk transducers for several years and I can say that unshielded disks are a recipe for induced A.C. hum when amplified. There's a reason why JBBs and K&K piezos are encased.

You can do your own shielding, but it's not as easy to implement as it might seem.

I've installed a half dozen K&K mini twins and they have been totally noise-free.

Hi c…z

With sensors each an inch across I'd guess that they were not going into a guitar. How would you ever fit sensors that wide under a bridge plate and between the X-braces?

Hi L......r, I do not know the answer to your bridgeplate question. I will be building something similar to this with them...
