Default 2011 taylor 914ce cedar/eir

here is my wife's wedding gift to me. I changed the top from Sitka to cedar through the modify a model process. everything else is per the 2011 spec

I loved the appointments of the 914ce, but felt the Sitka/rosewood combo lacked midrange and felt unbalanced. I got the idea of modifying the top by playing the 2011 cedar/eir 714ce.

I finally photographed this, took the opportunity since I shot my new sinker/eir taylor. hope you enjoy the pics

Oh I can totally understand that. Now that I have kiddos, everything is incredibly delayed. Ha =D

Thx, I think it sounds great. Imagine a 914ce with great low end, great sparkle, and a strong midrange.

There is definitely lower headroom than a Sitka/rosewood GA body, but over time, it has opened up and is able to be driven harder.

I'm not sure if the lower headroom was because of the cv bracing or bone saddle.

Regardless, to sum up the tone, it's the classic taylor zing with warmth to give great balance.

My new sinker/eir has more range, but noticeable less bottom end and more sparkle. Hope that answers your question

Yes. Thank you much for the reply. Been hearing a lot about cedar/rosewood combination. Starting to get an itch I might need to scratch.

Wow, great looking guitar, my favorite wood combo. Starting your lives together with that can only bode well for a long and happy future [emoji120]
