Well as you know I had some back tracking to do on the neck but now the final coats of finish are being sprayed on today. I decided I did not like mahogany and koa together as it introduced a new color not found anywhere else on the guitar so I did a dark burst on the neck, which I like to do anyway, matching the braz tones as close as I could.
Anyway it's coming together.
Here it is in my outdoor drying room

Default Koa Build

I guess I am partially to blame for John building Paul a new guitar, as two guitars from his collection. Right Paul?
Best - Michael

The Pablo Package is also 12 frets to the body, with comfy rounded bindings throughout when John does it for me! Beautiful head plate and backstrap with super strong duck tail volute. Also, John has now done four custom neck carves for me as I have small hands and am beat up after my lifetime of drumming and 26 years of solo guitar without backing tracks!

Folks, these instruments are OUTSTANDING in every way, and a monster value, too!!!

Yes, Michael, in a way. Since I sold a good chunk of my collection including a half dozen old Taylors I could rationalize another from John!

My wife, Cindy, has excellent ears and loves the tone of all the JKs I have played for her. All my former five and Steve's Custom BACONATOR... (what a cool name).

I am very fortunate to have a spouse who says "Go for it"!

I hope you're having fun with all three of your new Kinnairds! Better write your wife a love song right away…

That might be the prettiest burst on a neck I've ever seen up there above…

Cheers

Paul

All in due time Paul. My plan is to showcase the wood first. Abalone is what it is but this wood is, in my opinion, rather special.
