Another Hercules fan here. Secure and easy to use. They now have a new model with an improved adjustment handle, new feet, and new foam protection (the handle in rear.)

I have several of those Hercules stands, and one of the Ultimate Gs-100 stands. Both types are great stands. Hercules did have a problem with the rubber on the adjustment-handles going sticky, but that was sorted out several years ago.

I also have two of the Quiklok A-Frame stands that the OP claims ‘ruin guitars’. The only thing I can say is that I’ve never had a problem with them and that, if a guitar was ‘banged-up’ and/or ‘ruined’ by being placed in one of those stands, it was down to Operator-Error. The stand is an inanimate object, and is incapable of ‘banging-up’ or otherwise ‘ruining’ a guitar in the manner described without human intervention - the guitar was ‘banged-up’ and/or ‘ruined’ by a lack of care on the part of the person placing it in the stand.

When I was a kid, if I broke something and told my mum or dad that, “It broke”, their response was invariably , “It didn’t break - you broke it!”. Same rule applies here, AFAIC.

No offence intended to anyone, but some things need to be said and I’m only surprised that no-one else has said it. A guitar can be ‘banged-up’ by any type of stand if the person using it doesn’t take the appropriate care.

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.

Another vote for the Hercules - just picked up one of the cheap on stage stands and all I gotta say is you get what you pay for

Hercules or Hamilton. The Hamilton’s work better for instruments with thinner necks (banjos) but are increasingly harder to find.

Rarer than rocking-horse-puckey here in the UK....

I don't see anything wrong with the Fender Deluxe, and they're cheap when they go on MF SDOTD.
One little thing though: If you insert your guitar at a 45 degree angle, the corner might bump a piece of hard plastic that's at the base of the tripod. This should be covered with padding.

For acoustic guitars Ultimate Support GS-200 hands down. Safe for Nitro finishes and it just works.

After reading this thread, I bought the Hercules GS415B stand. It seems to be sturdy and well made, and, when folded, will fit in the bag with my mic and speaker stands. The only thing I don't like is I had to change the position of my d'Addario mini tuner. I had it positioned under the headstock right by the nut, but I had to move it to the top of the headstock. It's still underneath, but not quite as unnoticeable as before.

Edit: Two other things I like: neither my strap nor my cord get caught when I pick up my guitar!
