Default Which Guitar Stands Do You Guys Prefer?

So my Quiklok a-frame stand damaged my S6. I wrote about that here. https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=547750 I want to get a new stand. Someone recommended the K&M a-frame and also the Hercules hanger stand. They both cost about $50. I live in Israel so I would have to order the KM from Amazon but the Hercules they sell near me, I could also get a regular tripod stand with neck support for about $2o. I have one of those. It's good enough, but I use it for my banjo and in my opinion is cheap enough in construction that it would break, probably while holding an instrument, if I changed the adjustment on a regular basis. I prefer the KM just because apartments are really small in Israel, and it doesn't have moving parts to break. What stands do you guys prefer / recommend? That is keeping in mind I'm traumatized from my baby getting all dinged up by the Quiklok

I use a Hercules. I've never had a problem with finish damage or adjustments, so it has been fine. I also use several generic hanger-type tripod stands from Guitar Center and they have also worked fine. Never liked the looks of the stands without the hangers; they just look unstable and prone to damaging the base of the guitar.

The cost of the Hercules is a little more and they take up a bit more room. You have been unhappy with your stands so far. Maybe it is time you tried something else.

I like the D & A Starfish stand. Very stable. A bit heavier so probably not great if you want to use it for gigs but a really nice stand. They are not the cheapest but they are the most well made and stable in my experience. There are two models. I have the active one. Here's a link:

There a some good choices out there at a variety of price points so you should find what will work best for you.

Best,
Jayne

Hi 6Sr

Hercules, both for wall and floor stands.

I've used the cheapo GC ones, and have recently graduated to Hercules hanger-style stands, which are great...but my girlfriends cat loves to sharpen his claws in the rubber that covers the front two "legs".

I have a few of the cheap basic stands around the house, and they work fine for all shapes and sizes of guitars (even my high end 5k ones). Though for playing out I prefer to haul the bigger Hercules, which just works much better with the lock and release mechanism. Though I have one that just has a little foamy pad to lean the guitar again (GS412B). No complaints about that so far.

For home use go cheap:

Better for playing out:

I have one like the first one Merlin66 posted.. probably not the same brand but it looks like that.

I have not seen any guitar stands that don't scare me.

I saw a Strat go bang this week when a stand went over.

I always always put the guitar back in the case if it's an option at all, I use the stand just for very short periods if I have to put it down for a second to do something I can't do wearing the guitar.

I use the K&M Heli 2, and prefer the cork-coated version.

Another vote for Hercules. Best stands I have ever used.

K&M Heli (or Heli2) A frame guitar stands.
Reasonably priced, lightweight, foldable, well balanced. I used them at home, and take them to gigs. Never been a problem and never done any damage.
just make sure you get the acoustic one, not the thin one for elecs.

At home I have Hercules wall hangers for all of them. When I'm away, I use the same K&M referenced immediately above - one for acoustic, one for electric.

I have the K & M for my acoustic, stable and, being an apartment dweller, easy to put away when not in use.
