Default Played a Huss & Dalton Australian blackwood today

Today I went to my nearby shop where I had an opportunity to play an Australian blackwood Huss ,& Dalton OO with European Spruce top.
IMO, feels pretty dry with a scooped mids. Retailing at 5,100

Wow, beautiful! Almost rustic looking. You mentioned it "feels pretty dry with a scooped mids" - did you like it?

That describes Australia perfectly at the moment.

'Pretty dry with scooped mids'.

We had to import wheat this year for the 1st time in many, many years due to poor crops created by drought conditions.

p.s. that back and sides does look beautiful.

I have a H&D Custom D-RH (Engelmann Top / Aussie Blackwood Back/Sides). To me, it feels in between Mahogany and Rosewood. The neck on that guitar is wonderfully comfortable. I’ve been playing it quite a bit. I had it up for trade, but never got any offers I was really excited about. At any rate, it’s a great guitar I picked up here in Seattle.

As much as I love Huss & Dalton, you can likely get something that sounds as good in its own way from Larrivee Guitars for about 1/3 to 1/2 the price--Seriously!

Yes, the neck and playability of that guitar is like no other. It was so responsive and comfortable to play throughout the fretboard, even up to the frets near the neck joint. Takes a while to warm it up and awaken it, but once it does it has a gorgeous sustain.

And that it was pretty light, as it uses adro braces. However, wasn't too fond of the tone, found it lacking in bass or warmthness compared to either rosewood of mahagony. It is an easy to play guitar, but one I may not be a keeper
