Capo for Rainsong 12?

I currently have a Shubb Deluxe 12-string capo that I use on my WS3000.

It works, but I have to adjust it to provide a lot of clamping force. For those of you with 12-string Rainsongs, what capos are you all using?

Anything that might work better?

I've emailed Shubb to ask them whether they think the S2 (classical) might work better than the S3 (12-string) since the Rainsong has such a flat radius to the fretboard.

On my WS3000 I ended up using the Classical Shubb. It did work better than the 12 String Shubb model for me. Still not perfect but it's hard to get a capo to work fantastic on any 12 string I've ever owned.

I even tried the Paige 12 string capo. While in theory this should work excellent because it has the little extra rubber tubing for the octave strings I found it was too hard to position and really worked no better than the Shubb.

Have you tried the old standby Kyser Quick-Change Capo? Place it just behind and almost on top of the fret for the least tuning distortion.

Not strong enough. The problem isn't distortion from too much clamping force, it's that the octave strings are muted from not enough force.

I also have a Shubb Deluxe 12-string capo that I use on everything, whether wood or CF, including the 12 string neck on my Emerald Chimaera doubleneck. It works wonderfully on that guitar.

Emerald has a 16" radius, Rainsong is 20". Flattest fretboard I have outside my wife's classical.

Shubb got back to me and Rick Shubb suggested that he modify an S3 as a better choice than the S2, so we will see how that works.

Just got my modified capo from Shubb.

It's noticeably flatter than the standard 12-string capo, not as flat as a classical capo.

Put it on and it mutes the high E. *sigh* Adjust more tension, still mutes the e string.

Hmmn, I wonder... Put the capo on "upside down".

Works perfectly. Ok, so I'm reasonably happy. Works much better than my old Shubb. I just have to mount the capo from the bottom instead of the top. (i.e. connecting bar on the treble side) I can live with that.

I use the G7 Performance capo on my WS-3000, but only up to the 5th fret. Anything beyond that is iffy. The G7 12 string capo, I gave away.
