Today's work begins with fitting the heel to the body. The curves must match perfectly. Video

I suggested a heel cap inlay of abalone. I love the way Tim has implemented it. It's one of the small details but check out way he surrounds the cap with Sapele. Video

Next, setting the neck alignment is crucial. There was some celebration in the shop when the neck showed perfect alignment to the body centerline.

I think Tim has nailed my vision for bling on the heel cap.

Here Tim is installing the all important adjustable truss rod.

Catch up with y'all tomorrow!

That heel-cap is really classy! I love it!

It's amazing to watch the precision with which Tim works.

Program Note: I've added a new item to the McJam schedule: Mary singing "Delta Dawn." I, for one, am really looking forward to this!! It would be perfect if you accompany her on the Skinny Slope Dread Dennis! AND, a kazoo solo by all the McJammers.

Absolutely. I'll check to see what key she wants to sing it in.

She politely asked if you can play it in the key of “it’s not happening”?

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. - and you will.

Words escape me. I can't wait to see the final presentation.

I'm not familiar with that key. I'll have to look it up but I'm sure I can find it. Who knows … maybe I can throw in a harmony.

Today we have the Ebony fretboard coming together. Lots of pics so hold on to your hat.

First, we thickness.

Cutting the slots for the frets.

Using the CNC the top of the fretboard is radiused.

Then the fretboard taper is cut.

The we see the creation of the famous McKnight fretboard end.

Next we see routing of the channels for the abalone purfling and Sapele binding.

And the purling and binding applied. Video

Here the binding material is bent for the curves of the fretboard end.

And the final touches on the fretboard end.

Time to let all the glue dry for the night.

It is a work of art, Dennis. You and Tim have done very well.

I keep having this song in my head now and it’s not going away. If it is still there in June I’ll invite Nancy and Kathy to join me in singing it. We can become known as a new hot Chic group called “the McJam Sister’s Three.” That is only if you pay us enough. We won’t be cheap!

Man, that is just beautiful work Tim!

On another note (pun intended)... we've gone from "not gonna happen" to "if you pay me enough and I have singing partners, I might sing Delta Dawn."

That is real progress. By the time McJam 13 rolls around, Mary will be doing an entire set! I have some suggestions!

I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar

You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman

Wild Thing

Anybody else have song suggetions?
