Next Wednesday I finally get to meet my new guitar! I met with the builder, Danny Ginn, at Winfield last year and we began planning my new instrument.
Since I already have a couple of rosewood dreadnaughts (1963 Brazilian D28 and 1989 EIR HD28) I decided to go the opposite way, so we settled on a 12 fret short scale 00 size. The top is master grade spruce, back and sides are ribbon stripe Cuban mahogany. Neck is Honduras mahogany, Gabon ebony for the fingerboard and pyramid bridge. Tortoise binding and herringbone purfling, diamonds and squares markers. Paddle headstock (because I hate changing strings on a slot head!) I’m excited to only be days away from meeting her after a yearlong gestation! How do you post photos here? |

The easy way is to just pay 15 or $25 to become a charter member for a year.
Then you can load your pictures through the AGF app. The rest of the time I go through Safari. But for pictures you have to use the app. This will allow you to load pictures directly from your device without having to use a hosting service. I will not use a hosting service. Since they’re famous for harvesting data and holding pictures hostage. I may be an outlier, but I also will not download any new app, if I’m not already using it on my iPad. I want less stuff not more… There’s also a rigmarole for doing it without paying but I figure it’s a good investment anyway! OK! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your groovy new guitar. Cheers Paul

I post photos via external hosting service because it's proven very easy, doesn't require any app, and I post to other forums and like to keep all my photos in a single location. I investigated several free photo hosting sites and settled on Imgur due to its good track record so far. You can organize your photos in individual folders on Imgur to make various categories so things are easy to find. Once your photos are uploaded to Imgur you copy the link Imgur provides for your photo and paste it into your post by using the little "Insert Image" icon you will find directly above the text box you use when posting. It's very easy and intuitive. Your bigger problem is once you get your 00 you may find you don't spend much time with your dreads! ![]() |

I find the easiest way to post pictures (by far) is to use the Tapatalk app.
I don't use the app for much else. If I'm making a pic heavy post, I'll usually write the text on my computer, and then hop on my phone, edit the post in Tapatalk, and upload the pics from there. Don't have to move them, host them, or edit them to reduce the size.

It will be fun to see pictures of your new guitar and to see your beaming smile as you share the details here. It's always fun on viewer's ends to see happiness shine throughout this forum. This is the place to be so everyone gets to share in your joy. I was one of those kids in school who preferred picture books over lots of words.
Bring on those pictures!

Danny included not only a complete build sheet but also some little surprises that were his ideas, such as the heel cap which I assumed was black plastic until I saw it in sunlight, and saw the ebony grain. I love his detail on the end, and the pyramid bridge seems to add to the sustain?

The Mono case is great, and here’s a photo of Danny presenting it to me. His wife insists he build another to keep! A lot of people gave her a good workout at Winfield this month, including Mark Sganga, national Fingerstyle winner, and everyone was impressed! Danny Ginn Stringworks, Winfield, Kansas (which was also the home town of the late Stuart Mossman, one of the first to build boutique guitars that emulated the sound of the classic guitars of the 1930s)
She gets played every day now, (my dreadnaughts are jealous!) and the action and intonation is perfect. I wanted the opposite of my D28s and she’s the perfect size to curl up on a chair and play, yet can hold her own with big instruments easily. For his first small body, Danny hit it out of the park! And he has a nice stockpile of Cuban as well as a big slab of Brazilian (currently becoming a D45 for another customer)

Pay to be a charter member and be able to post pics?!?! I've never seen that as an option anywhere, and hence, don't post pictures. I just spent a few minutes poking around but still can't find it. Where to look?.......
