Default Rosewood top guitar

I've seen threads on whether rosewood would make a good soundboard but I haven't seen any guitars until I ran across this all rosewood beauty. Would be interesting to hear how this beauty sounds.

I love Larrivee, but I have to wonder about that one...I'd wager that's a collector's piece for someone, not a player's guitar. But ???

I saw the pic of that in my inbox/Larrivee emails. It's really gorgeous, but like others I have to wonder about tone. Seems like the whole thing would just be way too heavy to have the liveliness one likes in an acoustic.

Interesting find.

I once met an old professional studio player who said his favorite guitar was an all-rosewood Guild. He said it sounded better than any guitar he'd ever played in all his 40 years of recording.

I would have loved to see it or hear a recording.

I learned the hard way to always get Spruce topped guitars after being seduced by a very beautiful and expensive Koa top guitar. And EIRW is twice as hard as Koa.

Very pretty, but like koa and other hardwood tops, it would probably take a LONG time for it to open up. Most folks (but not all) that don't like hardwood tops have not given them enough time to age and get flexible.

Now, mahogany tops are a totally different animal. Very warm and responsive. Both Martin and Gibson figured that out a century ago.

But there has to be a good reason that builders don’t use rosewood as a top. My bet is that it sounds dead as a door nail.

I'm thinking the same thing. Also, given rosewood's density and Larrivee's build I'm guessing it's pretty heavy.

Hey Bruce,

It's a Jumbo !!

And exactly what does "Jumbo" mean here? Has the shape, but no lower bout size listed.
Talkin' 'bout bouts.

And what does "Musoo" mean anyway?

Well Don I do remember standing in field with a Chinese dairy farmer one day as we watched his cows grazing.
As we started walking back he told me to be careful not to tread in any 'Musoo'.
