I'm pretty sure there were several different styles used over the years, but at least back in 2010 it was:

CE109014-1

CE = Cargo Electronics
1 = Gloss
09 = Year made
014 = Day of the year so January 14th
1 = How many of that guitar were made that day

Thanks, Steve! Do you know if the above applies to Peavey made guitars?

Sorry, no clue about that. I guess I'd be surprised if it Peavey didn't change things. I wonder when David's OX was made?

And still no response from CA customer service. I’m quite fond of my OX but the company that made it? Not so much.

I swore off Peavey over three decades ago. When I bought my OX, I didn’t know CA was a Peavey company.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Does this mean my pre-peavey CA is like a pre-CBS fender?

If your CA is pre peavey they will not give you any support. They will simply tell you they have no information on them and do not support them.

Yes, but how do I determine if it’s pre or post? I bought it brand new two years ago. They won’t respond.

003 indicates that it's a Peavey-made CA. The rest of the format is as follows using serial number examples:

BAA = 2010 January -- 2010 is Peavey's first year of Composite Acoustics manufacturing
BBA = 2011 January
BCA = 2012 January
BDA = 2013 January
BEK = 2014 December
BFA = 2015 January
BGE = 2016 May
BHF = 2017 June

The year is indicated by the first two letters with a starting point of AA for 2010.
The third letter designates the month of the year with A being January, B February, etc.

Thus, David, your CA OX with its serial number of 003BGAxxxxxxx indicates your guitar was made in 2016 January in the U.S.A., in Meridian, Mississippi. The remaining numbers in the serial number have something to do with the model of guitar and, I think, what number guitar it was on a certain day in the designated month or year.

Wow, thank you sir! Since CA is unresponsive to basic questions such as these from their customers, perhaps this information should be a sticky?

Yes! I coined the term back years ago in the McNichol forum when it became known that Peavey was buying up CA Guitars' assets. I cited pre-CBS Fender as the inspiration for the term.
