Agreed. This is why I refuse to buy one of the new Rainsongs with the burst finish. They went with an opaque burst instead of a transparent one.

I'm not interested in any paint-job that hides the pretty carbon weave.

Yes, I like to see carbon in its natural state as well. Fishing rods are great items for seeing all the weave variations...they are where I came to appreciate the qualities of it.

As the wood gets scarce and the 'wood generation' defines the market less and less, supplanted by younger and more exploratory minds, CF will become quite ubiquitous in guitars, I reckon, some decade or two from now. Expectations of what a guitar should sound like will probably evolve with it. All it takes for it to take off is a very talented person or cult group that catches the public attention using CF instruments which defines their sound. Think what Jimmy Hendrix and Hank Marvin did to the perception of the electric guitar.

One day there will be a Martin D45CF.

I agree... I think a carbon fiber guitar should look like CF, wear the beautiful fibers proudly, and not bear a false facade.

I wonder why carbon fiber is so relatively costly...evidently not the same as charcoal

Maybe sooner that you think.

I also love the look of CF but do appreciate the solid color options. In fact the solid pewter color really helps to keep it cool on hot summer days. Here's Pierre with my Pewter Rainsong Parlor on Big Bear Lake.

I played a High compression laminated top Martin acoustic about 2 years ago and wasn't impressed at all. CF Martin doesn't stand for the CF we all have grown to love and appreciate.

On another note; The pick-guard on my 1975 D28 finally got to the point it was just hanging so I removed it, and now my Old 1975 D28 sounds as good as my Rainsong, but it doesn't play as friendly

costs for materials have skyrocketed with more and more industries using carbon fiber in manufacturing.

Yeah, I tried that charcoal guitar thing... makes a heck of a mess out of your shirt! I have too much invested into my Rainsong to find out how it does at cooking a steak.

Happy New Year!
