Default Happy Birthday Jim Kweskin!

One of my all time favorites. Here are some words of wisdom about playing the guitar -

I love Jim Kweskin as well. I love his version of this Pat Donahue song.

This was recorded on MY 75th birthday.

It is hard now to recall how beloved the Jim Kweskin Jug Band was in the 1960s. Their imitators were legion. A couple of years ago I was trying to get back to NY so I could see one of their reunion shows. It was just not to be though.

Happy birthday Mr. Kweskin!

I was fortunate to see the Kweskin Jugband reunion at McCabe's in Santa Monica back around 1980. The show included just about everyone but Jim Kweskin. Geoff and Maria were there with daughter Jennie. Amos Garrett AND Steve Bruton on guitars. I especially enjoyed meeting Eric Von Schmidt and Fritz Richmond backstage. What a show!

Jim played at Hugh's Room in Toronto a couple of years back. He was backed up by the Ever-Lovin' Jug Band and Sam Allison on bass. Great show. I got a photo of him holding his new Maple Leaf Champions Jug Band CD.

A few months earlier, Geoff Muldaur came to Toronto and played a great show at Hugh's. He was playing his new Geoff Muldaur signature Martin guitar. He said, "I got 'em to build me a Gibson."
