Default F.Chopin: Waltz in A minor, B.150 No.19

Waltz in A minor, B. 150 No. 19

Composer: Frédéric Chopin (1810 - 1849)
Arranger & Performer: Ming Huang

Frédéric François Chopin (born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin; 1 March 1810 – 17 October 1849) was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period who wrote primarily for solo piano. He has maintained worldwide renown as a leading musician of his era, one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation.

The Waltz in A minor is a piano waltz composed by Frédéric Chopin 1847 and 1849, but was not published until 1860, after the composer's death. This waltz is structured as a single movement in rondo form marked allegretto. It is one of Chopin's shortest and technically easiest waltzes.

The piece shows great sadness, while enclosing some episodes that hint at happiness and hope. The first theme of the piece uses a simple but effective melody, conveying a sad portrait, with decorative ornaments used throughout. The second theme is more lively, punctuated by a brisk ascending arpeggio, although it still has a certain sadness. About halfway through the piece, there is a modulation into A major, featuring a happy and joyful melody. The piece concludes with the main theme, followed by a short coda.

I arranged the piece on guitar arrangement, with the original key of A minor. I keep the beginning of the first theme the same pitch as the piano to create the original feelings. After that there are guitar specific genre with slurs.

I used to play this on the piano. I will have to revisit it. Love your playing. Some seriously difficult transitions in this piece. Well done!

Thanks Mark, yes guitar solo transcription from Chopin is always difficult (or impossible). Glad to see you like it.
