New Blues Musicians
Hey folks,
I've been scanning the web for blues musicians who're perhaps at the beginning of their careers right now. Are there any new faces on the blues scene that have been catching you off guard? Cheers! |

Not super new but Jontavious Willis is in his twenties. I'd say he is certainly carrying on the Blues tradition.

Jontavious is as entertaining as it gets! He's 100% blues. Favorite fellow playing the blues right now is Blind Boy Paxton, though he's more of a folk jukebox, not just blues. Uncanny, though. Pre-pandemic played a show in town (Jontavious opened) and responded to a request for "Candyman" with the best rendition I've ever heard!!

Not really “new”, but Eric Gales seems to be hitting the big time, and has some amazing guitar chops.
To answer your question (again, indirectly) check out Joe Bonamassa’s record label, Keeping the Blues Alive. He has a lot of talent signed. Ive found record companies web sites are a good source of artist info. https://shop.jbonamassa.com/collections/ktba-records That is a link to the store, with artist’s releases. If this is breaking forum rules, I trust a mod will remove it, with my apologies.

Jerome ("Blind Boy") Paxton is a superb entertainer who mostly does blues and closely related music.

I was going to say Kingfish but I see he's been mentioned.

While not at his beginning I think Malcom Young is amazing.
