Default Rode NT4 Stereo Mic - $290 + shipping

Rode NT4 Stereo Mic - $290 + shipping

I've gotten a lot of mileage out of the Rode NT4, it's a solid mic that has worked very well for acoustic guitar recordings in my experience. I've found myself with more mics than I can reasonably use and it seems like time to share the wealth (and maybe collect some cash for some new different mics??)

Comes in a handy carrying case:

The mic is a single point stereo unit with a pair of NT5 cardioid capsules in an XY array. It's powered by a 9 volt battery and includes a clamp and wind filter.

The output of the mic is a 5 pin XLR connector. Two cables are provided. One breaks out the stereo pair as two 3 pin XLR plugs, the other is terminated in a 1/8" stereo mini-plug.

The mini-plug is handy if you want to connect directly to a camera input. Here are a couple of video clips shot using this mic for this purpose:

Into a Lumix GH4 outdoors for a slack key duet:

and indoors for a solo piece:

The second clip is straight out of the camera with no EQ or other effects.

You can get all the details straight from Rode here: http://www.rode.com/microphones/nt4

Smile Nice playing

I have one of these NT4 stereo mics. I bought it here.

I like it a lot. Extremely low self-noise is nice.

Your playing is lovely!

I love my NT4. Works great as a drum overhead, too. Or a field mic.

Thanks, Paul. The NT4 is really a seriously pro item, indeed. I probably should have bought that and stopped, but mics are so shiny and they don't take up much room, makes it easy to accumulate them (grin).

Yes, over at Gearslutz they get a lot of mention as a drum overhead. With the Rycote "dead cat" over the Rode foam filter it really works well outside even in windy conditions.
