I like my Blueridge BG-160. That guitar is no longer available new, but is probably easy to obtain used. It's my only acoustic and I'm not selling it, so look elsewhere if you're interested.

Any Alvarez-Yairi DY model (while you can still find one under $1200).

Blueridge BR-160A, maybe BR-140A; but then again I’m quite fond of the BR-140 too and a friend has a pretty great BR-160. My son played a BG-60 over the weekend and begged me to bring it home.

All of those are 1200 or less.

I’ve been very satisfied with my Martin D-12e Sapele dreadnought. I heartily suggest you try one out as you narrow your search. Tonally very much like a D-18, and I use mine as an alternative to my HD-28 when I’m recording my efforts. Its a solid wood guitar, Sitka and Sapele, and I’m still impressed with it after several years now.

The Guilds are a good suggestion.

I personally like the older Taylor DN/10 models and plenty can be had for that price range. My DN8 is a great dread.

Also, the Takamine EF340S/360S are great. The models with BG("Bluegrass") at the end of the name are really great guitars.

Also,l for a slope variety, the Gibson J35 and J15 can sometimes be found at that price point.

MiM Taylor 110e, with the X bracing if you can find it. Solid, sounds good, looks great, as practical as heck - my main stage instrument. Mine is a 2015.

Of the ones I’ve played that could fall in that range used I’d say a Martin DSS-17. Also my Seagull s6 is really impressive.

Im 7 years into my Eastman e10d and still love it. Other dreads during the hunt are/were huss & Dalton, larrivee sd50 (12 fret beauty), Bourgeois, Goodall, Jayson Bowerman Breedlove Revival deluxe, and a vintage D28. The Martin, Goodall, and Eastman are my keepers.

Eastman is where I'd begin your search... They build wonderful instruments, with incredible pricing for what they offer....

In that price range a pre-owned guitar will get you a nicer guitar.

I picked up a (2012) Stonebridge D22 SR for $1250. Folks list them for a few bills more but i made the offer and it was accepted. Sweet guitar.

If you're open to used, my favorite is the Martin D-15m. There's also the D-15e which can be had new for under $1200 with discount (I have no experience with this one, but if it's anything like the D-15m, then it's a good deal).
