Here's a belated post I made on another forum on St. Patrick's Day:

Patrick was a British citizen of the Roman Republic and his name, in his own writing, was "Patricius." For instance, his Confessio begins with, "Ego Patricius, peccator rusticissimus..." ("I, Patrick, a sinner, the rudest and least of all the faithful..."). He was born in the province of Britannia, what is now Northamptonshire, UK. He was abducted as a teen by Irish slave pirates and sold to become a shepherd in Ireland, which was, at that point, considered the barbaric end of the earth. He lived here for seven years before he escaped. He is the only known slave of his period to have escaped and returned to England. After his return, he studied and became a priest and eventually a bishop. Once ordained a bishop, he followed his heart back to Ireland where, knowing Gallic, he evangelized the locals and eventually raise up several churches and began to educate their leaders. As I understand it, he was only the second person in history to write against slavery. He spent his life there in Ireland, under constant threat of death from druid leaders who saw him as a threat. He was buried somewhere on a hill near Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, near the graveyard of Down Cathedral.

I learned all this because I recently spent weeks preparing a docudrama movie about his life for theatrical release. Coronavirus closed the theaters on premier day, but it premiered in Ireland on Netflix and it is now available as a DVD.

I enjoyed that.

The error on the video is probably because you placed the whole youtube link between the tags. Only YUc__5qK89Y should be there.

Just reminds me that I've asked Alistair a couple of times for a plain tenor uke, but nothing so far.

Martin;

Good seeing & hearing you again. You look well and, as usual, your play is marvelous.
