Novice K&K/TCH Play Acoustic question
Just starting in the world of acoustic amplification. Been reading here that you do not need a pre-amp with the K&K Pure Mini, but it does help significantly.
I plan on purchasing the TC Play Acoustic. Forgive my naivety, but if I get the Play Acoustic, doesn't that negate the need for the pre-amp? I.e. doesn't the Play Acoustic act as the pre-amp? Thanks in advance!

Hello G,
My Bourgeois OM with K&K sounds fine without a preamp into my TC Play Acoustic. I use the Body Rez to shape the sound, and I believe it's #4 custom of the 5 Body Rez available on the unit. I don't need to tweak it very much. Before purchasing this unit, I used a Red-Eye preamp, but found I don't need it. I have only gigged once with the new unit, but no problems so far regarding eq. Try it without. |

Yep, I agree. The Play Acoustic functions as your preamp... and very nicely, I might add. Ive owned (and still own) numerous other acoustic DIs/preamps etc... and am very happily using just the Play Acoustic direct to the soundboard. One of my favourite all-time purchases.
