Default Upgraded to Cubase 10.5....

I’ve yet to master this program, but the upgrade really looked nice.

There are some programs that I don't think will be "mastered" by most people who use them because the programs are so massive. I've been using ProTools for 15+ years and I'm certainly no master of it. I know how to use it to fulfill my needs but there are many capabilities of that program I've never learned because they weren't necessary to what I do.

Same thing with Photoshop. I'm very good with Photoshop and I can do every thing I need to do with it but I'm probably only touching about 25% of the program. I can do most things people request of me but I'm certainly not at the "master" level.

And not being a master of either bothers me not one bit. If I need to add something to my skill set, there are plenty of tutorials out there and I've done that when the occasion required it or when my interest was piqued by something I heard or saw. But so long as my overall needs are served by what I know, I'm pretty content.

At this point they’re all (DAW’S) more capable than I’m ever gonna be able to utilize. I make my living (and have for almost 20 years now) in Pro Tools. 10 hours a day 5 or 6 days a week. If I’m willing to keep my eyes open I learn something new everyday. The pit is bottomless. I’ve just become fairly proficient in Studio One and I’m still certified in both Logic and Pro Tools. It kinda comes down to pick one that’s financial reasonable and go!

We’ll I’m pretty good at using Cakewalk Sonar, but I want to switch to Cubase because I have Cubasis on my iPad for remote recordings and music writing, then bring it on home to Cubase 10.5, for additional work then to Audition CS6 for editing and uploading to the internet.

I finally got Cubase 10.5 set up and running good, it’s a lot different from Sonar, so I had some set up problems with it, but it’s working good now.

I upgraded to Cubase 10 Pro almost a year ago and there is so much yet to learn! Still, I am glad I did it!

The good thing is that I can start where I am and build on that.

I agree with Joseph it seems the major DAWs total learning curves are so massive, that there is always more in the well. But then recording and mixing is also a life long learning process methinks ..................

I currently run PTHD (Ultimate) Native, version 2019.6, as my main DAW.
I also have Studio One 4 which I am just starting to learn . And I run Reason 8, as a virtual instrument "slave" ReWired to PT

We went with Nuendo in 2003 and I've worked on it ever since. Agreeing with Joseph, every major project requires new capabilities so I'm constantly learning more about the platform.
