Default Be Thou My Vision instrumental guitar

Thanks for Listening.

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art

One of the best lyric/melody ever I've played over and again...your lovely rendition is once again beautifully played.

Just to note that the correct name of the melody is "Slane". It is an ancient Irish air.

The well known Irish folk song "The Banks of the Bann" was probably the first song to put lyrics to this melody.

Much later, in the second decade of the twentieth century, the melody was appropriated around 1919 for the hymn "Be Thou My Vision", which had been written four years earlier by Eleanor Hull.

Thanks for the extra info. I know that a lot of my favorite hymns have originated as a popular folk tune with lyrics added later. I've actually been trying to write words to the tune of the Southwind for a few years now I might put them up and have some suggestions in another section of this forum on the phrasing of it all. Much harder than you would think, at least for someone like myself!
