Default My first CD - what genre would you call it?

I released my first CD (12 original songs) 8 days ago. You can listen to it on all the major streaming platforms . . . this webpage has links to them.

https://davidpennybaker.hearnow.com/

When I set all this up with CDBaby, they asked for TWO genres (and one sub-genre each), and also a list of up to three people that I "sound like".

For the first genre, I chose Country, with a sub-genre of Americana.

For the second genre, I chose Folk, with a sub-genre of Singer/Songwriter.

I have been compared to Johnny Cash and Gordon Lightfoot the most (and once or twice to Jimmy Buffet). My producer (when asked) said I sound like Junior Brown. So, I chose Johnny, Gordon, and Junior.

I still don't know what I am. I don't really know what "Red Dirt" music means, but from what I've heard of it, I don't think I'm that. I think CDBaby (the ones who made the CD) classified it as Traditional Country.

IMO your choices are right on. Congrats on the CD.
