Default The Ookpik Waltz (trad) [fingerpicked in G]

This is a great old Canadian fiddle tune which I picked up in my session group I would say about five years ago. Back then I could just strum through the chords. Pleased to say I can now get through a little fingerpicked turn of it that I worked out myself, Nothing elaborate but I find it very satisfying - it shows me a lot of progress from when I decided I wanted to play better guitar.

I play this with a friend who plays fiddle and when he comes in I obviously back out into accompanying him but this track is just me. It’s a great tune to pass around a circle if you have a few lead instruments, like in your typical Irish session (it goes AABA and you can do as many turns as you like).

Thanks for listening hope you enjoy.

Edit : I played this on my 000-28.

Hi Coler,
I am truly enjoying this tune.
Very nice picking.
Sometimes, simple is better, and this one is simply beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.

I love this song. You played it wonderfully. I do fingerstyle guitar as well and also on mountain dulcimer. Such a pretty tune.

Thought that was fantastic. Great old tune. Just had it for a lesson so the timing is especially good for me. Thanks for sharing.

Very melancholic, bittersweet tune and very soulful playing. Lovely stuff Coler.

Very nice rendition, and congrats on developing the finger-style! (I could never make myself keep after it, regretfully.)
