I store my picks in the big hole in the center of the guitar. They do rattle a bit and I must turn the instrument upside down and shake it to get one out.

Irregular breathing in the direction of the strings is more likely to cause damage. Just to be safe, I never use a pick anyway.

Pick is slotted over/under GBE. I makes the nicest slight curve in the pick for my thumb.
My thumb pick hangs on my capo which is clamped onto my headstock. Works for me. |

Not that there are not enough posts already but...
Over under on first fret on gbe for thinner picks, just under the same strings for thicker picks. "the whole world is a bottle and life is but a dram"

Keep track of my picks by putting them in the strings
I have known some people who raise hell when they see one of my guitars with a pick in the strings. They never gave any reason other than some vague impropriety. I see on this site some users bring up tuning issues, but I use a .60 mm nylon EVH pick, I doubt it would stretch the strings out of tune even if I left it in for 50 years.

Dr Don? I'm going to start calling you Diver Don for digging up a 10 year old thread!

I used to put my in the strings. But it's been like 45 years since I have done it.
I guess I figured that is what that little compartment in the case is for.

I keep my picks in the washing machine, apparently, because that’s where I always find them.

My wife is not a player and can't relate to why I have sooo many guitars. But she did get a chuckle out of this one.

I store my picks in the strings. Easier to get to IMO when I'm ready to play. My guitars are always slightly flat to begin whether I keep the picks in the strings or not. I keep them in the highest three strings on the fourth fret. Just out of habit.

A pick resting between the strings will have a lot less pressure on the guitar than a humidifier that goes between the strings. I do both.
Never noticed a problem with the guitar but back when I used thin picks, the picks would deform from being paced between the strings. Now days I use a large triangle 1.4 pick and see no deformation from storing the pick when placed in the strings.

My first guitar, a Harmony Stella, came with the pic in the strings. I got them for my 11th birthday in 1966. Through some strange twist of fate, I still have both!

When I was a flat picker I always kept a Fender medium in the strings.
