This was the equivalent of dropping a snake off in the middle of a sorority house.

I seem to disagree with their definition of “smart”. Although... I do always feel like my guitars don’t have enough built in phase shift sounds.

Well, since the technology already exists it's not surprising that someone came up with this. Whether it will make any real impression on the acoustic guitar market is dubious, though. Gimmicks rarely do.

I've patiently waited for the guitar companies to get rid of barn-door preamps and here we go again...
And there won't be any 'show your pedalboard' threads at AGF any more, it's all inside a guitar now.

A lot of that functionality can be added to any acoustic guitar with a Tonewood Amp.

Here’s my take on this. I love this sort of technology. I am exactly their target audience.

However, I just traded a Variax Acoustic 300 towards a Martin D15. A high tech guitar bought this year will be somewhat out of date next year and bargain bin out of date in two years. I’m sort of amazed they took the Variax! A regular guitar has no such expiration date!
