Default RIP Bruno Sammartino

One of the last links to pro wrestling's pre-WWE/Impact "golden era," and still considered by many fans to be the best ever in the business; credibility issues aside, he could always be counted on to provide a good show - his classic matches with the late Professor Tanaka were some of the biggest draws of the '60s/70s - but his well-known issues with Vince McMahon Jr. unfortunately kept him from receiving the post-retirement recognition he deserved until very recently...

Arrividerci, Champ...

Yeah, one of the first to have a bodybuilder's physique...always classy...his feud w/Superstar Billy Graham was legendary...a friend of mine from Pittsburgh told me how the crowd went near-riot when Graham came out to wrestle Bruno there one night...

Bruno was a class act in a dirty business.

A big +1 - and we're not likely to see another...

Wow! That's a name I hadn't heard in a while. Goes back to seeing the Pride and Joy of Pittsburgh wrestle at the Arena in Philadelphia back in the late 1960s...

Wow, this sure brings back fond memories of the golden age of wrestling. I was about 7 years old when I first saw Bruno on TV. At that time, I didn't know that wrestling was fake, and he was my hero.

Another good guy was Haystack Calhoun.
