Quick... best "grab and go" gig-worthy acoustic electric under $1500...
Need to quickly replace my old standard Blueridge with a high quality gig-worthy acoustic electric. I'll be going straight into the board or through a pre-amp pedal with my acoustic group for a bunch of gigs and the local shop is totally uninspiring.
PS - narrower nuts, thinner bodies/ergonomics and built-in high quality electronics are great! Thanks! |

Taylor 114ce or 214dlx are good candidates
Any of the lower end martins as well. I have also seen for a bit more a Taylor 517e in the AGF classified for only a bit higher |

Beat me to it. The Taylor 100 and 200 series are great guitars in both sound and build. It does depend though on how you feel about the ES electronics though since you'll be going electrified.

Tons of choices. New or used? Body shape? Solid woods or laminates?
Personally, for a go buy, pull out of the box and play a gig, in your price range, I'd probably pick up a Taylor 214e DLX. Course for a narrow nut, you may want to look at Takamine offerings. |

Takamine have higher end guitars starting around that cost, nice narrow necks. Martin d10e and d12e apparently are really good, but more basic electronics.

Actually, I haven’t played these yet but I heard nothing but amazing things; the Yamaha FGX5 (made in Japan), great pickup system, the FGX3 is made in China, but apparently very high quality just doesn’t have the bone saddle or hard case.

Taylor 100 and 200s have the narrower nits and very good electronics. They are on the bigger side, but don’t feel that big really. Hard to beat for the money and the 100s are half your budget. Laminate bodies on those 2 series are an upgrade if you’re gonna be out and about a lot as they are a little more forgiving than all solids in climate changes. I’ve got a couple that I bought to play at church in winter time and they are super gigging guitars.

I looked at all the suggestions so far. And I have played most of the ones brought up. None of them even comes close to the Yamaha A3 series with the SRT pick up system. But I cant speak about Yamahas red label series cause I haven't played one. But if there even close to the A series I cant see any one not liking the pick up system. I don't think the Taylor systems even come close. Just my 2 cents.

Takamine Pro Series.
The G-series are gig-worthy. But the Pro series have a much better preamp, and higher quality build.
