The A series from Yamaha has the 43mm neck/nut with a very comfortable eased edge neck profile. I own one of the A5R made in Japan , a very outstanding instrument!

I wonder which series has the better pickup system.

FIRST OF ALL. I hope your wife will be doing well soon.
I’m not much on pups but I’m guessing the new with mic option is a little more versatile.

Definitely drool-worthy. But I'd have to sell a guitar or two to justify the cost. They sure sound wonderful though I wonder whether Yamaha isn't just trying to capitalize on the red label enthusiasm of Yamaha owners. It seems to me they have come out with higher end "special editions" of various FG models in years past.

Thanks so much! The doctor thought it was the liver. Thousands of dollars of tests later, it turns out to be the gallbladder. You can't live without a liver. You can live without a gallbladder. This is great news.
But with what this is going to cost us, I could have bought a Martin D-45.
I think I'm going to be sitting on the sidelines for a few years. But in a few years, I might be open to trading my used Yamaha parlor for a used FSX3 if it were just a $200-$300 outlay.

They are absolutely trying to capitalize on the red label lust and in my case the buyer was a winner, as well. My FG-180 50th is a stunning guitar in tone, fit and finish. Go Yamaha.

Here’s a pic of Butch Walker playing one last weekend. HEs been a longtime fan of vintage FG acoustics for recording and when they put out the FG-180 50th, that became his main touring guitar for the last few years and he has a couple electrics with it. It looks great!

I posted a NGD last week. My FGX5 is too good to describe. It sounds like a mahogany dreadnaught should sound -- plugged in or un-plugged. I linked a YT video (just sound) going through the pickups which far surpassed my expectations.

My thoughts exactly, love my LL16 but I ideally like a slimmer neck.

Beautiful! I am glad that Yamaha is using the tuning fork logo on these too, it's so cool.

Every time I pick up n play my new FG5 I’;m thinking yes Yes YES! Such a full and lively resonant tone. The neck profile is just right there at the sweet spot for 44mm nut and more like the original FG180 Red Label with the subtle V feel not as rounded a C of the FG180-50TH. All who are waiting for delivery should be joyous upon its arrival.
