Default "Solitude" original fingerstyle on a custom Lowden F-50c

Hey AGF fam,

Thought I would share a new single I just released that CandyRat Records was kind enough to feature on their Youtube channel. I've really gotten into photography and videography since the pandemic set in and I guess it paid off in some ways, hopefully some will enjoy the side clips that aren't guitar related, tried not to over-do it, but there was one clip where a heron flew into the frame at 2:30 that just totally made my day (week).

This guitar is a one-off Lowden F-50c in AAAAA Red Cedar/Claro Walnut that used to belong to Craig D'Andrea (another CandyRat artist who I'm not 100% sure is still pursuing the craft) I honestly bought this guitar specifically to record this tune and a couple others because they really just needed the Irish sound and this one happened to have wide specs which I have never seen in a Lowden F-50c.

Love to hear your thoughts on the tune/video. I always value AGF members' feedback and critique more than the average players

I have tablature available for purchase on my website for just $5, helps to recoup the production costs since this isn't available for physical copy. Thanks all, have a nice Sunday and feel free to subscribe to my channel for more original material and handmade guitar demos. Thanks for listening.

Very nice! I'm curious how you recorded it; you're not plugged in & no mikes close by?

Nice piece of music.
As is often the case with Lowden, the sound is excellent. Well done of course

The recording itself was with two Schoepps CMC6 microphones into an Apollo x4 into Cubase Pro Artist. The audio from the camera is muted and audio from the studio overlayed in time with the video. I play it the same way everytime so it wasn’t too difficult, the reasoning for this method is that the water would’ve been too loud.

Stellar, Dustin!! The kind of tune that takes you a different place.....of course in this case, a place of Solitude!
What tuning? Curious how long it took you to work this one out to its final version.
Bravo my friend!!
Best,
Fred

Good one Dustin!

The depth of the guitar looks like its 5", at least. Nice tone!

I have family with the surname D'Andrea, small world.

Hi Dustin,

Well, that was stunningly good! Good for you! That is a beautiful composition and it's beautifully recorded. Very lush reverb!

That Lowden F50c sounds wonderful! Very warm! I wouldn't have normally thought that walnut would contribute to that kind of bass response, but the body on that guitar is pretty large. It sounds fantastic to me!

Your photography work was excellent, too! We have a great blue heron that lives in the wetland pasture right out our front window. Every time we see that huge wingspan we are so appreciative. And it was just as cool to see that heron in your video!

First class, Dustin! Great work, and wonderful to see and hear!

- Glenn

Dustin,

Admittedly, I haven’t gone through your entire catalog, but based on what I have heard, I think this is the best of it and by far.

Truly lovely.

Thanks so much for sharing!

It is quite deep indeed, 4.75” or so! The bevel helps a lot

Hey Fred, it’s in good ole DADGAD, capo 2. Admittedly it took me well over a year to finish, i definitely put it on the back burner for a few months at one point when I hit a wall with the bridge.

Wonderful tune, Dustin. Played with good energy, which adds to the compelling melody.
