Exclamation Give your opinion

I was just changing a 1st string on my guitar. As I was "loosening" it I heard a loud "SNAP". I had accidently been tightneing it of course and it broke. Luckily no damage to my beloved Seagull. Where do you think the string broke? Middle, Bridge, peghead, or you can name one. Answer tomorrow.

LOL. It's like "guess what I have in my shoes?" kind of question. No one can have the answer but you. Fact is there is only 1 place it broke at. It's nonsense saying " I guess it broke here" or "he thinks it should break there".

I'm feeling kind of down today. Thanks for humoring me. I just felt stupid at breaking it that way. I have one of those cool earnie Ball string winder. Be nice if it had a torque setting or better if I left my guitar alone when I feel the way I do. I suffer from Major Depression and sometimes I just can't even make myself play.. Thanks guys. Oh, it broke at the post. The recoil shot my endpin out like a bullet. Scared the crap out of me!

I've broken really old strings that way, but never a new one. I have, however, managed to accidently cut off a new string when I intended to just remove the excess. That takes a special talent that not many possess.

I always pluck the string when I use the winder on it to change them. That way if the note gets sharp u know your going the wrong way!!!

I think it broke at the bridge?

[QUOTE=Alanbama;2710864] Be nice if it had a torque setting [QUOTE]

A torque setting really is a good idea and to make it better how about a torque winding tuner. It will stop when the string is at perfect pitch.

They actually make those automated tuners. You pick a string and it tunes it. Next we won't even need to play!

You know, those special moments that require a change of under wear.

Done that. I generally pluck the first string I'm loosening on each side as I start loosening it. Most of the time it drops in pitch right away. Some of the time I have to quickly throw my hand into reverse. It's automatic if I'm tuning using bare fingers, but if I'm using a crank-winder thingie, then I have to stop and think which way to turn.

Depression stinks, but it can get better. I've seen both sides of that coin. Life was ugly for a time. It's OK now. I'll pray for you, my friend.

Hi Alanbama…

It does have a torque setting - it's called 'toink…ooops!'. Thankfully it doesn't have voice interaction which says ''you have exceeded your pressure allotment for this string!''
