I'm also a believer in less is more in some cases. One of the things that makes my Lakewood's rosette stand out is the fact that it has no fretboard markers. So the only "bling" on that guitar is the Lakewood name on the headstock (in MOP I believe) and that rosette. I think if I had a fancy floral or vine fretboard inlay, no one would notice the rosette at all (and the guitar would look garish).

Full disclosure, my original post with the M32 rosette is my guitar.

This one is not my guitar. But in the 17 years since I've ordered mine, Lakewood has apparently raised their "rosette design" game. This is apparently one of their default designs (though magic symbols are still available from their custom options).

If I every order another Lakewood, I may just stick with the default rosette style (I think you can custom order the woods if you want to change it up).

Here's the rosette on my Kramer. Double abalone ring with Brazilian rosewood.

Those are cool... I browsed around some...

Slope MacNaught:
Reclaimed Brazilian Rosewood back and sides

How do you reclaim Brazilian rosewood, from an old table? I'm not sure
if you'll think this is gross, but the luthier I go to has made some tops
out of the soundboard of a 100 year old piano I love reclaimed stuff.

McIlroy, A19. Nothing fancy, for sure, but harmonizes with the woods!

Some beauties here - I especially like the ones with the incomplete circle

Burton LeGeyt always does a fabulous job in my book. Here is one I did that copied a 1930's Gibson scheme - red spruce and gold glitter

https://www.flickr.com/photos/ruby16...7649776959267/

And here is one inspired by the early Gibson mandolin rosettes - cross grained ivoroid on an exceptional piece of redwood

Sorry - never been able to do pictures on this sight despite having read the instructions over and over and over and over

So many beautiful rosettes!

Here’s my McIlroy AP25 custom. I love the understated beauty of the Paua shell surrounded by the Rosewood and Swiss Pear purfling inlays. IMG_7649.jpg
