Default Eastman and L.R. Baggs

On another forum I was asking about acoustic amps. Looking at the lower price range like the Fishman Loudbox Mini. Someone posted that I'd never get a sound I liked with the Baggs unit without spending a lot of money. Any opinions? Anyone using a less expensive amp with this pickup?

I don't know about those pickups, as I prefer the K&K. But as for acoustic amps, check out the Boss Acoustic Singer. I just got one not too long ago, and am very impressed with it. I think it has a woodier, softer tone than the Fishman amps.

Another fan of the K&K Mini. It's in all of my guitars. I've used Fishman amps but would check out Ken's^ suggestion regarding the Boss Acoustic Singer. Also I've had good results with the Baggs Session DI in conjunction with the K&K mini...works well for me.

I have LR Baggs in a few different instruments.........my amp is a Fishman Loudbox Mini, sounds great. One of my playing partners has the Fishman Loudbox Artist his LR Baggs equipped instruments as well as mine sound great through that as well

I can’t think of a legitimate reason why they would not sound good. I think you were dealing with some one with severe gear bias

I have k&k pure minis in all my guitars. I still run my guitars thru a pre amp to get the sound that I like. If I was you I would just pick up a L.R. Baggs pre amp . They have one for around 129 bucks I think. Any of the Fishman loudbox amps are good sounding to me. I have owned all three of them and still have the performer. I dont think you can go wrong with them. But their are other good amps too. The LR Baggs para sells for 200 bucks. Dont know if you want to spend that much. I have the k&k pure mini pre amp. I only paid a 100 bucks for it and it works great. I had a Martin dread a while back with the fishman matrix pick up in it and I wasnt to crazy about it straight in to my amp. But when I ran in thru my k&k pre amp I could actually get a pretty decent natural sound from it. Are you not liking the sound of the pick up in the ac422? You could always have a k&K pure mini pick up put in it. You'd have 2 different pick ups in your guitar. I actually did that with an old Martin I had. There is nothing wrong with the fishman mini. You will get a lot of biased opinions on here. It has a 120 five star reviews on M. Friend for a reason.

Which Baggs model? They make many pickups. Some sound better than others.

I think he is talking about the LR baggs element. I think that is what usually comes in the AC422ce.

I"ve got a few amps to explore. We'll see. I guess the other option is a mic. I have a seinheiser 509 that's been sitting for a long time and could get a mic stand that would work. Thoughts?

You bet. Just wondering how you like the element pick up. I have never had a guitar with one of them in it.

All 3 of my current gigging guitars have Baggs pickups (2 w/ Anthem SL and one with a M1). All of these sound great through my Fishman Loudbox Artist and Performer amps. I suspect that your friend has some unfounded bias against Fishman amps.

I was just reading the reviews at M. friend on your pick up and it sounds like its a good pick up. Like I said before when you do get an amp and if by chance you are not quite happy with the sound I would pick up one of lr baggs pre amps or the k&k pure mini pre amp. It really helps I think when you run your guitar thru the pre amp into the amp. Even my k&k minis sound better. I know a lot of people on here say they sound good straight into the amp, and they do, but I just think they sound better thru my pre amp.

Point taken. Copied your note into my desktop stickies for reference. Thanks
