1951 Gibson J-45 (ON HOLD)
Up for sale is a superb-sounding 1951 Gibson J-45. This one sounds like an old J-45 should: big, open, woody, emphasis on the midrange but with strong bass (thanks in part to the scalloped braces, which were standard on J-45s until 1955) and sweet trebles.
Check out the video demo here: http://youtu.be/Xje379o_W6o This is a player’s guitar: the bridge has been reglued, the tuners changed to modern Kluson repros, plugged jack hole not far from the endpin, reglued center back seam, and a series of cracks running along one of the sides. These cracks are long, but they have been expertly repaired by luthier Chris Bozung in Fairview, TN. Feel free to email me if you’d like to see more photos. Fortunately, the top is crack-free and in excellent shape. Asking $4,500 + shipping. Last edited by forrestoconnor; 04-19-2018 at 05:40 PM. |
