Default Who have you discovered trolling Youtube?

I thought maybe people would like to share musicians and / or groups they never knew existed until they discovered them on YouTube.

I'll start, there are many to choose from but here's three acts, (with samples), I'm watching a lot right now.

Josh Turner

Gretchen Menn

Mandolin Orange aka Watchouse

Please share

It's certainly not someone I hadn't heard of, but a very different aspect of them.

There's a YouTube series called "Ask Croz" in which a variety of questions are posed to David Crosby for his opinion. Some are serious, some are funny, but his responses are always interesting.

I first discovered TE on YouTube. I had never heard of him before, but he blew me away - I was a member of the AGF way back then (aka Guest326) prolly 2010 or 2011, and so I posted excitedly about my new discovery -- and got ridiculed because he was already well known here. Those were the days!

I discovered the Mona Lisa Twins doing some Beatles tunes.

Good stuff. They nailed the harmonies.

Mona Lisa Twins are another group I came across. They're pretty high on my list.

Jason Isbell. Pretty lucky to find him.

AJLee and Blue Summit
Blackberry Smoke
Chris Stapleton
Colter Wall
John Reischman
Prelude
Ryan Bingham
Tyler Grant
Walk Off the Earth

Reaction videos - basically young urban African-Americans posting videos and commentary of themselves listening to classic '70's rock songs for the first time. Since then it seems to have grown into a more adult-oriented business model (in terms of joining the club, patron, tips, etc).

Another plug for Walk Off The Earth. I saw their “five people, one guitar” cover of “Somebody I Used to Know” in December 2011, when that video had about 45 thousand views.

More recently, I stumbled upon The Analogues’ White Album concert. A total mind-blower.

This year they’re performing Let It Be and Abbey Road. My wife and I already have tickets for the show in Paris in September. I haven’t been this excited to see a live show since I went to see Zappa Plays Zappa in 2015.

I too discovered Blackberry Smoke and Colter Wall by listening to YouTube playlists. Charlie Starr is a great guitarist, singer, and performer.

Along those same lines I also discovered:
- Cody Jinks
- Whiskey Myers
- A few great metal bands that I won't list (I don't think we have many metal fans on the AGF).

Recently I discovered these ladies but they may have already been popular. I think they have a really cool and unique sound, and loads of talent.
