Taylor 814CE and Composite Acoustic GX perfomer
So which one is which. both were done at the same place but two different dates. a simple one track recording softwear was used. it was in a sall room and the mic was a good 3 to 3.5 feet away!!!! the mic was a MXL990. I did a recording of also with a sure PG57 located 8" off the neck at about the 12th fret too but don`t have the space at the time to post it. oh please excuse the horrible singing on the one clip. I had a person video taping my hands when doing that one and was not at all concentrating on the vocals!!!!!!!

I will throw a wrench in the mix now too. Here is a recording of ONE of the two using a Sure PG57 about 8 to 10" off the neck at around the 12th fret.

I prefer the bass response on the first sample. Don't care what strings are on it - only the tone when listening. Very similar the two.
I met Joe Walsh once buying Takamines and he told me in-studio and at home he only played Martins. On the road he purchsaed several Taks to take on the road because onced processed and played through amps and effects, who cared what he was playing. I mainly care what the accoustic sounds like - accoustically. I can shape the sound plugged in the way I like. |

I prefer the second as well. Seems just to be a bit more bass...both sound very nice.

It makes the most sense. They can do whatever they want to with a sound at that level! I was amazed at one of their shows....I guess it was 3 years ago this summer....time fly's, anyways at the amount of sound and engineering and expert's behind the scene's and just off to the side of the stage. One tech, wearing headphones tuning a guitar for the next number to a computer screen and than waiting to hand it to Joe or Stewart!! It was pretty cool! Sammy |
