Default Have you used any of these books?

I am considering a couple of new books, but would like to get a recommendation from someone who has actually had success with them so they don't become yet more unused books for me.

1. The Principles of Correct Guitar Practice - Jamey Andreas

2. The Guitar Principles Path: Level One - Jamey Andreas

3. Theory for the Contemporary Guitarist - Guy Capuzzo

4. Fretboard Knowledge for the Contemporary Guitarist - Vivian Clement

I use #1, it's really helped me, especially my left hand speed and better coordination of my pinky and ring finger.

I need to work more on the right hand exercises, I'm still only a strummer.

If you're good at precisely following book instructions and are willing to regularly practice the exercises as described, I highly recommend it. If not, don't bother buying it.

P.S. I recently bought the DVD versions of his book. They're not all the same exercises, but I find the visual closeups provided on a DVD very helpful.
I still recommend starting with his book, though.
If you like it, you'll like the DVD as well.

Default Theory For The Contemporary Guitarist

I just posted on the forum about two weeks ago looking for a good theory book. This book was recommended to me by a fellow member. It is really good. I have been taking a 1 hour lesson for the past three years and really have become a beliver that theory is tough to start with but you will reach a point when it starts to make great sense and when you start applying it the magical doors open. This is a great book that teaches the basics in a really easy way to understand. I have been looking for a good book to use as a refrence because at times you become overwelmed and need another source.
