For sale or trade: 2006 Santa Cruz 000-12 sunburst
TRADED
This handsome, great-sounding instrument is a Santa Cruz 12-fret 000, a close relation to the OM but with the larger body and more central bridge location associated with the 12- rather than the OM’s 14-fret neck. The larger size of the body cavity and location of the bridge farther from the sound hole give this model a strong, rich bass response. It is still very well balanced but the bass has a somewhat more reverberant quality. The most obvious visual feature of this guitar is the stunning sunburst Sitka spruce top, with a very dark, opaque boarder setting off a bright, transparent teardrop shape extending from the sound hole into the lower bout. Back and sides have an unstained finish, fully revealing the natural beauty of the East Indian rosewood from which they are made. The mahogany dark-stained neck also has a clear finish, but is satin rather than gloss for a more comfortable feel during playing. The ebony fingerboard; ebony capped, slotted headstock; and body are all bound in ivoroid. The top perfling and rosette feature a herringbone pattern. The ebony belly bridge has a compensated bone saddle and ebony bridge pins with pearl dots. The nut is also bone. This is a fantastic fingerpicking guitar with a lot of complexity and sustain. Play O'Carolan tunes on it and it sounds like you're playing in a cathedral. This Cruz was built in 2006 and is excellent condition, as is its original hardshell case. It’s a beautiful guitar. Having checked around a bit for price comparisons, I found a 2004 000-12, without the burst, at Elderly for $3150. I’m pricing this very competitively for $2700 plus shipping & insurance. I’m also very interested in trades, specifically for a Santa Cruz 1929/00. I’ve had a yen of late for an all-mahogany guitar and would only consider selling or trading this splendid 000-12 to scratch that persistent itch. The photos don't do it justice. Anything that might look a bit funky is a reflection or possibly a finger smudge, not a finish blemish.

I was really looking to get a guitar like this. For more than one year I'm looking for a Santa Cruz with sunburst finish 000...now, let's wait a little bit more.
