volt ohm meter
Planning on putting new p'ups using the "cheat method"
On my fully hollowbodied Epiphone Joe Pass. So after I've clipped the wires on the stock p'ups Is there a way to test the clipped wires that are still in the guitar for hot and ground with a VOM?

The cable you cut will likely be coax and it will be physically obvious which is which. After cutting out the pickups, a multimeter will read roughly zero ohms between the ground lead and the output jack nut. The signal connection will be ~500K ohms to the output jack nut after the tone control capacitor has charged. Putting the tone controls at "10" is probably not a bad idea before making this measurement. Jon
