Need Luthiers help!!!
Hello.
Any expert advice would be greatly appreciated. I really love my guitar but need a wider string spacing. I have a guitar with 2 3/16 string spacing at the bridge. Can the pin holes be filled with epoxy and rosewood saw dust and re drilled to get a 2 1/4 string spacing?? Any other options ?? Also, can a custom nut be used to get a wider string spacing at the other end?? Thanks for you thoughts. daniel |

Take your guitar to a local luthier to find our for sure. But if you really need a different spacing you're almost certainly going to need another guitar. Jim McCarthy |

Probably better to replace the bridge. That way the holes can br properly plugged and you'll have a professional looking job.

I personally cannot relate to 1/16" being deal killer critical. But chances are good that the bridge pin spacing can be widened that much with a little judicious file work.
