Wood Body Biscuit Bridge reso build
    A mid size 15" lower bout, Gibson inspired shape reso. Tarara/ canary wood body, wrc top, chosen for the colour only, adjustable cherry neck. The brass cover plate and peg head were oxidized with ammonia and salt. Thanks to Zach from Treehouse Guitars for the tip on doing that. Should be an interesting comparison with the 16" reso built by my friend Jeremy Ward here In my shop recently. Pics posted in "Friend/student Reso" posting for that guitar. Russ Parker

     All done. The brass cover plate, PH and tailpiece parts have true oil finish as does the body. The neck is Osmo oil wax. Gotoh 510 tuners in Cosmo black. I have read that the reso cones take awhile to settle in, so just strung with light gauge strings for now. I must say I like the biscuit bridge, wood body sound a lot. More than a metal body, which I made one years ago in brass. A warmer sound but possibly louder than a spider bridge wood body. A little inspiration to get back to some slide guitar. LOL. Russ

Thanks for the kind words and interest. I know reso guitars don't get, or deserve the kind of interest that a normal guitar does, the cone makes the sound and its something you buy. Having said that , it was still fun to build, and has a really neat, and loud!! Sound. The action needs to be a little higher to account for the slide, so it's not as easy to play with normal fretting, but still fun. Russ

Very cool what you've done with the hubcap. Wish I'd known about that a few months ago when I was getting one built.
Wasn't that canary wood nice to work with? I love the stuff but found out that the neatest colors in it, like the purples, tend to oxidize to browns after enough time. Even so, it is still pretty.

Thanks, glad you like the hubcap. It was a pleasant surprise , didn't know what to expect on brass. Tried it first with paper towel over it to hold the salt and ammonia but it left a waffle pattern in places. Facial tissue worker much better. First time I've used canary wood, hope it doesn't darken TOO much, cause you're right , there are some real pretty colours in it. Russ
