I can remember asking my grandma " what was it like to go from hearing about the first airplane flight to landing on the moon?" Or from the horse and buggy to cars?
If you think about it, a lot of advances transpire over a lifetime.

I always find it stunning how aircraft developed from the canvas covered wooden frame bi-planes at the end of WW1 (1918) to the Boeing 747 jumbo (1969) in just 51 years .... and as you say, even more amazing was man on the moon later that same year.

My grandmother was born in 1901 and died in 2006. She saw a lot. She rolled with it and shared many interesting stories and perspectives. The one thing that she couldn’t get past was the use of smart phones to take videos and sharing pictures and videos of her electronically. She was getting old at that point, but the line between TV and Live action was confusing.

I clearly remember a rotary phone in our place when I was a young child.
Worked just fine. It even had a metal dial underneath where you adjust the ring volume, if I remember correctly.
All analog of course, and the ring was from 2 metal/brass bells inside.
