Default Tired of the Sidelines - Wading Back In

I've been retired a few years, playing gigs since. But there aren't many gigs right now, as we all know. When COVID hit I was sorry I had given up my CRNA and RN licenses, figuring by the time I got one back the need would have passed.

Guess not.

So today, prompted by a Health Dept. call for nurses to give shots and do testing, I figured I'd start the process to reactivate my RN in case something came down the pike in the future. When I went to the website I found my state is reactivating, on a temporary basis, any RN licenses that have been inactive for less than five years. Who knew? Within a couple of hours I was activated until the end of the year and I started the process to keep it going permanently afterward.

So, feeling a bit less useless.

Great news! Do you need to go through a more formal process after the 'temporary activation' runs out?

Good for you, Nymuso!

You can help a few folks! Excellent! And what good fortune about your ease of renewing your license! My hat's off to you!

Good for you!

I was touched during our first lockdown when a kinda hippy biker neighbour came over, handed me his card and offered to get gorceries and such fr us, althiugh it made me feel really old! My stepson did the business for us mostly, but I can't keep my wife out of the supermarket, even though I've "had the letter" from the gov't telling me I amclassed as "extremely vulnerable".

Tell the truth, I've been pretty bored esp, during this second lockdown, but I know that no-one would allow me to volunteer, even if I could do the job, like delivering medicines, or food parcels etc.

I guess I'll have to stick to giving zoom lessons!

So we get free medical advice now, right?

Kidding...l’m KIDDING.

Seriously, thanks for what you’re doing. Lots of doctors and nurses in my family, past and present, including my niece who’s an ER doc currently in rural Louisiana. She tells me it’s crazy out there and we need all the pros we can get.

Be safe but know that you are appreciated.

Dirk

Reminds me of a definition of retirement: “Tired of working, then tired of not working.”

Life is good when it feels meaningful. If retirement doesn’t feel meaningful, it’s time to make a change!

The fact that your decision will benefit others is wonderful!! Much appreciation and gratitude. I hope it works out very well for you.

That's not an easy job to jump back into right now - kudos for being brave and selfless. I have five RNs in my family, so I know what you'll soon be into. Stay safe.

Thumbs up

Thank you for stepping up. Help is needed everywhere, and I am not qualified to provide the same type of help as you.

Congrats!

My wife is a certified pharmacy tech working in retail. She's been out there since the start. The company has put up the plexi shields and have big signs everywhere telling COVID patients to stay out of the building and drive around to the drive-in windows buuuuut... it's amazing how often people just walk up to the counter and say, "I just tested positive and need some meds." HELLO?

The pharmacies are already doing testing. Now they are gearing up for them to do shots as well. More bricks, less straw, as they say.
