N12GD!!
Very unique and special little guitar I just picked up from the forum, and just got fully operational today - its unusual enough to make it worth sharing -
This is an acoustic/electric 12 string built by Bill Cumpiano in 1990, a special commission - its topped and braced like an acoustic, but has a solid mahogany routed out body for back and sides. 24.9” scale, 1-⅞” nut, and thanks to help from the forum, I know its a Fishman ust with active preamp. As with so many USTs, an improperly fitted saddle was preventing the pickup from working well. Pulling in a few years worth of favors, I had Bruce Sexauer make a new bone saddle, and he also fixed the nut, which was much too high. (Note - do not ask Bruce to work on 12 string guitars - it does not bring out his usual pleasant self) A fresh set of strings, and I am completely jazzed! To me, its a wonderfully fun guitar - acoustically, its a bit thin due to its shallow depth and minimal soundboard and internal volume, but really comfortable to hold. Electrinically, it seems to be pretty nice, with an even balance and sweet 12 string vibe - I’m hoping to work it into a few songs we do, once I get a little more time with it. Anyway - not likely to come by any others like this, so heres a few pics -

Brilliant! I always wondered how would this kind of guitar sound, it's like a downsized Gibson L-4, but definitely more leaning to the flat top side.

Signature changed - it shipped in a gig bag, and my biggest challenge may be finding a case that can handle that headstock!!

Wow! That is a guitar that I would love to hear. Any chance of a sound clip at some point? You do have a pretty impressive line-up there. Congrats on the newest addition.

I would love to hear it as well. So it this like one of Rick Turner's guitars?

When I saw the N12GD, I thought you got 12 new guitars.
Looks great. Enjoy! |

Very cool! Not unlike a 12-string version of a Guild Songbird.
Maybe a Songbird case would work for you?
