Default Micro abalone purfling

I want some micro abalone and don’t know where to find any. I am pretty sure that some of you more computer savvy members can help me out here.

TIA
John

I have had Rescue Pearl cut me .030 strips of ablam in the past, twice. They’ll cut Teflon strips to match as well.

Tom Doerr uses it regularly - may want to check with him too.

John, Laurie Williams in New Zealand did some very fine (less than 1 mm) abalone on my guitar:

Is that the sort of thing you are looking for?

Yes. That’s it. I wonder if he cut this himself. That’s a beautiful guitar by the way.

I used very narrow pearl purfling on the one and only guitar I've built:

Are you looking for something like this?

Thanks, it is all Aussie and Kiwi woods and it was a really fun build.

I don't know if Laurie cuts it himself, but you could contact him to find out. He's a good guy to talk to.

And it reminded me of something else... Laurie is friends with Kevin Ryan and I recall that KR had micro abalone some time ago?

Very nice, hard to believe this is your only build. I like abalone purfling in that width for the top and sides but was looking for something even thinner for a rosette that i have in mind. Thanks for the look.

Thanks, John. It was great fun building the guitar.

I've now looked more closely at a photo a couple of posts up. You are looking for something thinner! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
